Get the data
The weekly figures for England and each region are free to download and reuse with a link to Termwise: holiday-demand-regions.csv.
Week-by-week figures for every council, for both school years, come with the Business plan or a bulk data licence as /v1/export/holiday-demand-councils.csv. Updated as councils publish new dates.
We take each council's published term dates and count a pupil as on holiday on any weekday outside term. Each council is weighted by the number of pupils at state schools in its area, from the Department for Education's school register. Bank holidays are left out because every school is closed. INSET days are left out too, because each school picks its own. Academies and free schools can set their own dates, so the real figure in any week can differ by a few points.
