Which board does my child's school use? Schools choose a board for each subject, and it can differ between subjects. It's usually in the GCSE or A-level options booklet or on the subject's page of the school website, and the front of any mock exam paper shows it. If not, ask the subject teacher. The specification code on the paper matches the code in this table.
The exam boards
- AQA: Use the finder and pick subject and qualification, or open the Assessment resources tab on each specification page. Teachers get early access to the most recent papers through Centre Services. AQA says summer 2026 papers go on its public website on 9 July 2027, so the newest public papers are roughly a year behind. Most papers stay on the public site for three years because of copyright, then drop off. Past papers
- Pearson Edexcel: Central past paper search: choose the qualification family (GCSE or A level), then the subject, then the exam series. Each specification also has a course materials page that can be filtered to Exam materials. Papers shown with a padlock are for teachers and exams officers only. Pearson says the most recent papers (sat within the past 12 months) are teacher only, while the search page itself says papers from the last nine months are locked. Either way, students cannot see the newest series straight away. Past papers
- OCR (Cambridge OCR): Past paper finder: choose the type of qualification, the qualification and the level. Each specification also has an Assessment page. New papers go first to Teach Cambridge, the secure site for schools, and reach the public OCR website about 14 months later (June papers appear in early August of the following year). OCR keeps papers online for five years, except GCSE, AS and A level maths and sciences, which are not limited to five years. Past papers
- WJEC Eduqas: Search by subject on the past papers page, or open the Past Papers / Mark Schemes tab on each qualification page. Schools get question papers through the secure Portal the day after the exam series ends. Under the WJEC publications policy (effective September 2025), June papers reach the public website between 1 and 31 July of the following year. Eduqas is the England brand of WJEC. It does not currently list GCSE sciences, GCSE French, German or Spanish, GCSE Psychology or Statistics, or A-level History, Maths, Further Maths or Politics. Past papers
